A quiet correspondence, kept by hand.
Bit of Ink began at a small desk, in a room with one lamp and too many books. It began as a notebook, a place to keep the sentences I did not want to lose, and became, slowly, a brand for anyone who has ever felt that reading is a kind of home.
We make small, considered objects for the desk: bookmarks, notecards, stickers, a few soft shirts. We write essays about the rituals that make a reading life. We believe in candles at breakfast, marginalia in pencil, and second cups of coffee.
That a beautifully kept object can change the way an ordinary hour feels. That reading is not a hobby but a way of being present. That small things, done slowly, are the whole point.
Read slowly.
A book worth reading is a book worth reading twice, and thrice, with a pencil in hand.
Make quietly.
Every object we sell is designed at the desk, printed in small runs, wrapped by hand.
Live in seasons.
Autumn asks for different books than spring. We try to make things for both.
A letter, once a month.
Essays, book notes, and quiet news from the studio. Never more than once a month.
